COLLEGE DAY 2013-14
Respected Chairman sir, correspondent madam, secretary sir, the
guest of the 21st College Day/sports day and placement day Function
Advocate A.P.Jayachandran, Members of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity,
Alumni, Parents, members from Press and my dear students. Good noon to all of
you.
With immense pleasure, I present the annual report for the
academic year 2013-14. At this moment, I want to express my sincere gratitude
to all the great men and women who have done yeoman and dedicated service that
has made PARK stand tall and committed to the ideals for which the college was founded.
This
Autonomous institution has achieved many feats and climbed new heights. The
award of the ‘Autonomous status’ by the UGC and NAAC’s accreditation at A grade
are some of them, the only Arts and Science College in Tirupur district to receive
this status.
The
regular classes commenced on 19th june 2013 for the ii and iii years
and 8th july for i year.
The
UGC experts committee visited the college from 26.07.2013 and 27.07.2013 for EOA
and extended the period of autonomy from 2013 to 2018.
CONFERENCES
/ SEMINARS / WORKSHOPS
In
this academic year the college has conducted 31 seminars, conferences and
workshops by various departments.
The
Department of Commerce and Applied commerce organized .NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON
Crop Insurance.- need of the hour NCCI 2014 on February, 07 2014.
The
department of Tamil organized 10 days national workshop on “ திணை மயக்கம் காட்டும் வாழ்வியல் நெறி’ sponsored by “செம்மொழி தமிழாய்வு மத்திய நிறுவனம்’ from 10.02.2014 to 19.02.2014.
IQAC
of our college organized two days NAAC sponsored National conference on
“Continuous enhancement of quality in higher educational institutions” on September
30th and 1st October 2013.
Deaprtment
of MBA organized 2 days workshop on Entrepreneurship and skill development Programme on
24.10.2013 and 25.10.2013.

candidates received Ph.D. degree and 10 candidates received M.Phil degree in various
departments in our college. Also 30 candidates doing Ph.D. degree and 59
candidates doing M.Phil degree in various departments in our college.

teachers attended the FDP Programmes and 46 teachers attended the seminar and
conferences. 54 papers were presented by the staff in various conferences and 3
papers were published in journals.
Ph.D
Research degree awarded to 3 faculty members. 5 staff members attended train
the train programme conducted by TCS.
Campus
has been used by Annamalai, Alagappa, Bharathiar, TNOU and SRM University to
conduct their semester/ entrance examinations. Also TNPSC various group exams
were also conducted in our college.
Total No. of books
in the library at present is 26,035 and
108 periodicals are available.
The newly added
e-journals are i) j Gate ii) INFLIBNET . Their cost is 1,25,000.00(one lake twenty five
thousand only).
SPORTS
ACHIVEMENTS FOR THE YEAR 2013-14
The year 2013-14 has
been another year of our dominance in the sporting arena. The past year has
seen all the teams from various disciplines, grow from strength to strength and
in the process bring laurels to the college and all involved with sports in our
college. K.SANTHOSH KUMAR III BCA has won III place in Bharathiar University
Inter collegiate Tournament Best Physique.
STUDENT’S
TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL
Campus
Direct Recruitment for this academic year started on 10.07.2013. Many companies,
both national and regional, from all over India visited our campus for direct
recruitment including TCS, Airtel, IDBI, Sutherland etc. We have already received
offers for 400 students.
FIRST
TIME in the college, placement cell was entrusted with the work of conducting soft
skills trainings for all students. External agencies such as Skill pro, Big U,
Red Arrows, Zeal, Compus etc are assigned to train the students in various
skills.
On
12th November 2013 the college had invited companies. In all, 12 companies
visited our college on and after a day-long process, a record number of 176
students have been placed. On 8th March 2014 the college had invited companies
again. In all, 19 companies visited our college and 135 students have been
placed.
As
many as 130 companies have received from us the database of the passed out
students. By regularly displaying the information on job opportunities most of
our students were able to get part time jobs in order to meet their day-to-day
expenses.
CO-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES
Our
college NCC wing had an eventful and a promising year, as it continued its
tradition of sublime achievements, bringing pride and fame to the college and
to the unit.
The NSS volunteers participated
actively in various social service activities. From 20/02/2013 to
26/02/2013 NSS Special camp was organised at Poomlaur, Pallipalayam Village
Amman Kalyana Mandapam. A Batch of 100 NSS Male volunteers and 80 NSS Female
volunteers participated in this event. The activities included EYE camp, Dental
check-up camp, Skin Care Camp, temple cleaning, School Campus cleaning,
Mushroom cultivation, etc.
The
Rotaract Club of PARK’s College has been involved in many projects this year so
far and has helped light up many lives.
The
youth Red Cross society was involved in the blood donation activities. RRC
volunteers involved AIDS awareness camp.
The
Eco club of our college is doing service to protect and preserve environment.
FOP
was officially inaugurated for the academic year 2013-2014. They participated
in all the programmes as volunteers to maintain discipline. They participated
several awareness programmes outside the college.
The
highlight of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell was aimed at the students
open to the concept of entrepreneurship.
Parents
are the major stakeholder in the highereducation. The first meeting of the
Parent-Teacher forum was conducted on 06th July 2014. After a long discussion
with the representatives of the parents it was decided to ask the opinion of
the parents regarding various academic issues.
The
PARK’s College Employees Co-operative Thrift and Credit Society Ltd., which was
started in the year 2004 has completed its 10 years of functioning in the
service of its members.
MG
Hostel is indeed a .mini global village, with students hailing from different parts,
classes, cultures and religions.
PARK
Alumni Association is one of the very active wings of the PARK’S College.
Helping
hands club, English Literacy Club, Fine Arts Club, Tamil Peravai, Humour Club, Leo
Club, Kairali association, Yoga& Meditation Club, Karate Club, Women’s
Forum and Consumer Forum are functioning effectively.
Obituary
Prof.A.Murugesan,
former Hod of mathematics passed away on 19.12.2010.
Ramesh,
V (09-EC-212), a final Year student of B.Com died on 23.07.2010 due to an
accident.
FUTURE
DIRECTIONS
Our
college aims to build itself for its future. We must move on to a level of
international standard fromwhere it is. To that end, we would like to focus on
developing human resources and infrastructure. That is to enhance the way we
teach and the ways our students learn.
Conclusion
First
of all let me thank God almighty for guiding this college
throughout this academic year and showering blessings on the administration,
officials, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of this temple of
learning.
I
express my sincere thanks to our chairman, correspondent and secretary for
their constant support and encouragement throughout this academic year to
discharge my duties satisfactorily. I have been in this college for the past 18
years serving as HOD of cs for 14 years, vice principal for 2 years and as a
principal for 2 years. Let me thank the management for the trust bestowed upon
me for these years.
I
am extremely fortunate to have an inspiring and wonderful band of dedicated
staff members to share my responsibility all along this academic year. They
stood by me and helped me in every possible way. I profusely thank each one of
them.
Finally
I thank sincerely our chief guests for their valuable presence today at 21st
college day, sports day and placement day function.
I
take this opportunity to request our guests to address our students and inspire
them to envision a bright future, not only for them but also for our nation so
as to reach greater heights of glory.
